Data Stewardship Governance Structure

Overview

The Office of Business Intelligence partners with multiple constituent groups across the University. Our data stewardship governance structure includes three major groups:

  Data Sponsors

The Data Sponsors represent a subcommittee of the University Planning Committee (UPC) consisting of the deans of all five schools of Pepperdine and leadership from other major units across the University. The Data Sponsors' responsibilities include executive sponsorship and support of the Data Stewardship process, strategic oversight of Data Stewardship goals and priorities, as well as final say on unresolved or controversial items initiated by the Data Partners and/or Data Stewards.

The Data Sponsors represent the following units and roles:

Associate Vice President, Human Resources and Business Services
Chief Financial Officer
Dean, Caruso School of Law
Dean, Graduate School of Education and Psychology
Dean, Pepperdine's Graziadio Business School
Dean, School of Public Policy
Dean, Seaver College
Senior Vice President for Strategic Implementation
Vice President for Advancement and Chief Development Officer
Vice President for Community Belonging and Chief Diversity Officer
Vice President, Student Affairs
Vice Provost

  Data Stewards

The Data Stewards are key collaborators with oversight of a given data domain, responsible for reviewing and approving the work of the Data Partners (e.g., data definitions, data integrity/quality, business process, and data standards). Data Stewards provide as-needed moderation of unresolved issues, consult with executive leadership (i.e., Data Sponsors) accordingly, and oversee access to University data. They represent the following units and roles:
